TS-1 JET FUEL

The TS-1 jet fuel grade is intended for use in subsonic aircraft.

Its physical, chemical, and performance specifications meet the requirements of Russia’s latest industry standard edition (GOST 10227). The product also fully conforms to the Customs Union Technical Regulations (Technical Regulation Act 013/2011 – Technical Requirements for Gasoline, Diesel, Bunker Fuels, Jet Fuels and Heating Oil).

TS-1 key properties:

 

  • high volatility to ensure combustion efficiency;

  • high efficiency and heat of combustion to ensure distance of flight;

  • high pumpability and good low-temperature properties for injection into the combustion chamber;

  • low deposit formation susceptibility;

  • high compatibility with materials, good anti-wear and anti-static properties.

 

If the content of total and mercaptan sulphur is high, the TS-1 fuel is subjected to hydrotreating or demercaptanization, and then mixed with straight-run fuel before use. Hydrotreated component content is limited to 70 % to prevent the deterioration of anti-wear properties.

Jet fuel is a low-hazard product and is classified as hazard Level 4 substance by GOST 12.1.007-76.

Storage life for jet fuel is five years as from the date of production.

RT JET FUEL

The RT jet fuel grade is intended for use both in subsonic and supersonic aircraft.

Its physical, chemical, and performance specifications meet the requirements of Russia’s latest industry standard (GOST 10227). The product also fully conforms to the Customs Union Technical Regulations (Technical Regulation Act 013/2011 – Technical Requirements for Gasoline, Diesel, Bunker Fuels, Jet Fuels and Heating Oil).

RT key properties:

 

  • high volatility to ensure combustion efficiency;

  • high efficiency and heat of combustion to ensure distance of flight;

  • high pumpability and good low-temperature properties for injection into the combustion chamber;

  • low total and mercaptan sulphur content;

  • low deposit formation susceptibility;

  • high compatibility with materials, good anti-wear and anti-static properties.

 

The RT fuel grade fully conforms to international requirements, with certain specifications even exceeding them. It boasts good anti-wear properties, high chemical and thermal oxidative stability, low total sulfur content and almost a complete absence of mercaptans. RT jet fuel is entirely suitable for use in a jet engine and shows no negative impact on its cycle life.

Jet fuel is a low-hazard product and is classified as hazard level 4 substance by GOST 12.1.007-76.

Guaranteed storage life for jet fuel is five years as from the date of production.

Anti-icing additives

Anti-icing additives are intended for use with jet fuels to prevent fuel strainer frosting at low temperatures.

 

 

VPK-Oyl currently uses two grades of anti-icing additives:

 

  1. Grade “I” anti-icing additive (industrial ethyl cellosolve) produced in compliance with GOST 8313.

  2. Grade “I-M” anti-icing additive produced in compliance with ОST 54-3-175-73-99. It is a combination of ethyl cellosolve (manufactured in compliance with GOST 8313) and A-grade methanol (manufactured in compliance with GOST 2222) in equal proportion.

 

Low temperatures cause fuel to crystallize. Ice crystals then block fuel strainers which may inhibit fuel flow and result in engine shutdown. Anti-icing additives make water more soluble in the fuel thus preventing crystallization and frosting. Mixed with free water, anti-icing additives form liquids with a low freezing point.

Additives are injected via metering units installed in the refueller truck or when using a Centralized Aircraft Refuelling System (CARS) to ensure metering accuracy.

STABLE NATURAL GASOLINE

Stable natural gasoline is a mixture of saturated hydrocarbons С3-С6 and higher. It is a product of processing associated petroleum gas and a highly flammable liquid that is explosive and fire hazardous, with class 4 toxicity.

Depending on the composition of the feedstock, the technology to produce stable natural gasoline and its physical and chemical properties, there are two gasoline marks: light (GL) and heavy (GH). The density of stable natural gasoline at a temperature of 15 degrees is about 0.65 g/cm3.

Stable natural gasoline is used as pyrolysis feedstock for petrochemical production and organic synthesis plants, and feedstock for central gas fractionation units, as well as to compound automobile gasoline.

FUEL OIL

Mazut (fuel oil) is a type of oil fuel, a residue of preliminary oil distillation. It can be used as fuel for boiler houses – light mazut, or as feedstock that is subsequently processed into oil fractions to obtain tar, in the production of engine and grease oils, bitumen, coke – heavy mazut.

There are the following types of mazut: furnace, straight-run, cracked and marine.

Furnace mazut (fuel oil) is an oil fuel type that is produced from heavy residues of processing oil, coal and combustible shales.

Using different compositions and physical and chemical properties of feedstock, it is possible to produce mazut with different properties.

Mazut quality is assessed on the basis of its density, viscosity and sulfur content. Mazut density is determined at a temperature of 20°С, and should be 0.89-1 gram per cubic centimeter.

Freezing temperature, that ranges from 10 to 50°С, is an important parameter of quality assessment, with the exception of marine mazuts for which the temperature is from minus 5 to minus 10°С. Mazut viscosity should be within 8-80 mm2/s and is measured at a temperature of 100°С.

Sulfur content in mazut should be 0.5-3.5%. Due to the performance properties of mazut as small ash content (less than 0.3%) and high thermal conductivity, it is possible to gain the required temperatures with quite small feedstock consumption.

HEAVY DISTILLATE OF NATURAL-GAS CONDENSATE

Heavy distillate of natural-gas condensate is a heavy straight-run residue of stable gas condensate (analogue of straight-run fuel oil) and is intended for use as fuel for stationary boilers and process plants.

Quality assurance

Fuel quality is guaranteed by a system of standards maintained by Vpk-Oyl and based on the following principles:

 

  • placing focus on customers;

  • handling products which conform to the latest industry standards (GOST or Technical Regulations), solely under contracts with legal

  • entities subject to be accompanied by documents drafted in accordance with the established procedure and duly identifying the product in question;

  • participating in pre-refuelling operations to ensure the use of standard product suitable for various aircraft types;

  • excluding the use of off-spec or expired products for refuelling, as well as the presence of foreign substances;

  • granting operational clearance only to certified and highly qualified personnel to ensure high quality of fuel and services;

  • providing an objective and reliable assessment of the fuel’s physical, chemical, and performance specifications.

Vpk-Oyl through its companies Owns and operates a crude oil and refined products receiving terminals in the Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Kozmino, Vostochny,  Slavyanka, and in Rotterdam the Netherland.  The terminals are integrated with the Transneft diesel pipeline and Druzhba oil pipeline (Transneft) with an annual capacity of over 13 million tons.


All terminals are connected to the arterial railway, with an annual capacity of 10 million tons.  Two Terminals utilize ports dock on the Volga river with an annual loading capacity of 4 million tons (a 4,500 DWT tankers for the Black Sea and a 7,000 DWT tanker for the Caspian Sea), available from April to November.
